Safety Advisor – Central North Island
New Zealand Defence are seeking a person who is passionate about health and safety to work within the unique environment of Waiouru Military Camp.
This is a key position where you will be delivering safety advice and support, which requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to relate confidently to a wide range of people, both military and civilian. You will be someone who is happy to get out into the organisation and actively promote and support a positive health and safety culture.
You will already have a strong foundation in occupational health and safety and are perhaps now looking to expand on that knowledge and broaden your ability.
Ideally, you will bring exposure to a wide range of health and safety practice including:
• Using risk management principles;
• Conducting accident/incident investigations; and
• Delivering relevant training and presentations.
You will have a thorough knowledge of all relevant occupational health and safety legislation, including hazardous chemicals (HSNO). You will be someone who is able to self-manage and work independently, while also valuing the opportunity to work collaboratively as part of a passionate team of diverse professionals.
A tertiary post graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent academic qualification, is required.
Military related qualifications or experience, understanding of HSNO legislation or Test Certifier, professional certification and/or membership of a recognised professional safety organisation is desirable.
