2021 HSR of the Year Awards

2021 HSR of the Year Awards

The 2021 Award Event held on the 6th of May and our overall winner and finalists

The Government Health and Safety Representative of the Year Awards aim to recognise the importance of Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and to showcase the outstanding achievements of HSRs over the past 12 months. All GHSL members are eligible to nominate their HSRs.

The 2021 awards were the fourth annual Government HSR of the Year Awards. In 2018 and 2019, the awards were incorporated into a full-day sector conference. 2020’s awards were presented locally (due to Covid-19). The 2021 awards were presented on 6 May 2021 at a small event at the Ministry for Primary Industries. The event was hosted by Ray Smith, Government Health and Safety Lead and Director-General for MPI, with support from the GHSL team and PSA. All finalists were supported by representatives and senior leaders from their agency.

Along with the prestige of being the overall winner for the year, the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM) have offered the winner a one year membership, which will help increase their knowledge and access to other health and safety professionals across the industry.

Phil Parkes, CEO of WorkSafe New Zealand, shares a message congratulating the 2021 Health and Safety Representative of the Year Awards finalists.
