GHSL Capability Opportunities – Next 12 Months

The GHSL is offering a wide range of health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) development and capability-building opportunities over the next year. These programmes support practitioners across many levels and roles — from chief executives and officers under the HSWA, to H&S practitioners, HR professionals, and Health & Safety Representatives.

Below is a summary of existing and upcoming training options that may be useful to consider as part of your development conversations with your employees or as a manager.

1. 2026 H&S Representative Conference & Awards

Our free H&S Representative Conference offers a practical day of learning, guest speakers, and celebration of outstanding contributions through the H&S Rep of the Year Awards.

Audience: H&S Representatives

Date & Location: Thursday 4 June, Shed 6, Wellington

2. NEBOSH International Certificate

Audience: Advisors, senior advisors, managers, and team leaders in HSW.

This globally recognised qualification is ideal for practitioners wanting to deepen their technical capability. 

Offer: $1,500 discount + 12 months complimentary access to HSE Global Academy (20+ eLearning modules, webinars, masterclasses, resources).

3. Early in Careers H&S Certificate (NZQA Micro-Credential)

Audience: H&S Coordinators, advisors, H&S Reps, and HR professionals

Price: $1,165 + GST per person (exclusive member rate)

A practical introduction to the work of an H&S generalist. The programme includes four in‑person workshops covering core competencies and foundational concepts for early-career professionals.

4. Additional Opportunities to Watch For

Driving Conference 2026

Audience: Heads of H&S, practitioners, Fleet Managers, HR professionals

Date: 12 November, Wellington

New H&S Representative Online Modules

Exclusive for GHSL Members: $200 for all 10 modules, or $25 each

In partnership with HSE Global (with support from DIA, MoJ and MBIE), GHSL will soon launch 10 x 20‑minute online modules covering the role of an H&S Rep, legal context, communication, risk management, reporting incidents and near misses, and more.
