ShopCare - First National Customer Aggression Survey
ShopCare Charitable Trust has launched the first national survey on customer aggression. Here is an email from their Chief Executive Selena Armstrong asking for everyones support so that they can gather a strong evidence base to enable meaningful change.
Kia ora/Hello
If you deal with the public as part of your job, please take part in NZ’s first survey on customer aggression. Violent and aggressive behaviour towards staff is a growing concern across many workplaces, including ours. But there is no clear national picture of how often it happens or
what customer-facing staff experience in Aotearoa, across all sectors.
This survey is your chance to help change that.
Your feedback will show what’s really happening day to day – and where things need to improve to make work safer. It will help shape how this issue is addressed across New Zealand, so people in roles like yours are better supported.
It is being run by ShopCare(external link), in partnership with KPMG and backed by organisations across NZ. ShopCare is a charitable trust, funded by ACC, focused on improving health, safety and wellbeing outcomes for workers.
The survey:
●Takes about five minutes to complete
● Is completely anonymous and confidential
●Will help shape new ways to better protect staff and improve customer behaviour
Your voice is important. The more people who take part, the clearer the picture will be. Take the survey here. (external link)
The survey will close on the 31 May 2026.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
